Snookums Wedding- October 22, 2011

One week ago I was in one of My Best Friends Wedding. It was a PERFECT October Day- Chilly but the sun was shining and the colors of fall were all over the place, it was beautiful! Not only were the colors beautiful- the Bride herself was absolutely STUNNING.

I got the pleasure of teaching Angela and Ilya their first dance for their wedding. Although I no longer live in NJ, I went there in the Beginning of October and again just before the wedding to teach them. working in their living room/dining room and even the out side basket ball court, they were able to complete their dance with relief and excitement! and They picked up the moves rather quickly and they surprised all of their guests!
The song they danced to was "Stay with You"- John Legend.

I watched them dance with the biggest smile on my face, that my face was hurting me! I was so happy that not only was i a bridesmaid sharing in their special day. I taught them something that they will remember forever.
The best part was when the Father of the Bride looked at me and said, "Ali, you did this?! Good Job!"

The DJ they used, Sound In Mind did a fantastic job! I absolutely recommend him for any of your events! He played the music that the bride and goom liked- and for the groom- he threw in alittle Backstreet Boys! How awesome is that?!?
Angela and Ilya were glowing on their wedding day and when I asked them if it was the best day of their life, they both said, "OMG YES!"
 CONGRATULATIONS To Angela & Ilya-
BEST WISHES ALWAYS!

Still loving the theme of FUN!

I found these pictures on the Knot today- How cute of an idea is this?! I love the shoes on both the Bride and the Groom and the toole under the dress adds even more fun! Makes me want to do the Can Can....

Also a HUGE fan of Jumping Shots!!!

Watch Out! Here I come!

I miss planning!!! I had the best time planning my wedding and seeing the finished product that I think I found "my calling". I have been working on planning a 10k Run that will take place next weekend, June 26th in Lowell, MA. I have been busy with that and when its over...WHAT WILL I PLAN?! I have decided that I want to keep "trying" to plan weddings...or anything really but we can dream of weddings for right now. Every girl loves...Love right?

I know a bunch of people who have talents in so many things! I have friends who do hair, make up, baking, photography...and me, I do Dance (photography on the side)! Why not try to start a business helping people and friends get what they need to have their wedding day Perfect?!? Im not sure how I am going to do this yet but I want it to work, and I hope it does! This is totally ment to be- a long time friend just informed me she is moving to Boston this summer, and she too is obsessed with weddings...This is so going to happen!

Im Crafty, or i'd like to think I am....I can come up with some cute themes and favors and basically everything to match the theme! Like for instance...my wedding was all about FUN. nothing but FUN! It started with the venue- The historic Smithville Inn...although the place is historic, there was so much to do! Shoppes, Bars, Restaurants, a Carousel a Lake, Rooms for our guests, everything was in walking distance. I loved it. It tied in with being the perfect place as that venue had a lot of meaning to me. when I was little, it was where my mom brought my sisters and I for a day trip. my mom is no longer with us, but what better way to feel her presence than being at "our" place!

Here is a picture of my bridal party and I on the carousel!

Another thing i wanted to consider was the Colors! I LOVE the color teal...I think i may be alittle obsessed with it... SO i knew that was the color my ladies were going to wear. The dress they wore complimented my dress by a "swooping" center on their belly that went in the opposite direction of the "swoop" on my dress. To have the color teal stand out, what better way then to use some crazy flower colors that when you hear "Hot Pink and Orange" people say, "WHAT SERIOUSLY...ew." Yea...okay  Look at how amazing it came out!!! take a risk and try using complimentary colors of each other! I am so proud of this risk and let me tell you, when the people who said "ew" saw the amazing-ness of it, they complimented me and loved it too :)
**to add something special, I placed a picture of my mom on my bouquet**

I had two Something blues. each had something special, My husbands Baseball team is the Boston Red Sox!

My second Something Blue was a gift that brought the first set of tears to the event..... My Mom....Pinned on my heart.

My jewelry and my bridesmaids were also very special. They were made by my mother in law. She worked very hard on them and it all matched perfectly. So Beautiful. Swarovski Crystals are amazing.

I knew I wanted to incorporate Breast Cancer Awareness into my wedding party...How do you ask? Instead of the groomsmen wearing a boutonnière, they wore a pink ribbon. I am a Breast Cancer 3Day walker and I walk in Memory of my Mom. <3

The place seating cards were Orange with Pink and I wrote in the names of our guests with a teal permanent marker- they came out great! On that table my cousin helped create beautiful bouquets of daisies and gladiolas, mom's favorite! :)

The cake came with the package we got at the venue. We choose cupcakes- How FUN is that?! it came out nice and wow, they were yummy!

The ceremony was right outside this beautiful window :) So nice to look outside from the reception to see the area you said you "i do's" so special.
To continue with a fun and special ceremony, My cousin read a reading from Dr. Seuss. "Oh the Places You'll go." Love the teacher in her....

While our guests waited at the bar, I had created something for all to look at- a table that had a bio about each person in the bridal party! This was funny and the paragraphs about each person we to make people laugh. It worked! It was such a great idea and it made the bridal party feel extra special! next to that table was a table dedicated to my mom. A scrapbook and a beautiful poem :)

We were on a budget thats for sure, and to  help save money our bridesmaid bouquets were also used as our centerpieces! Such a great idea!!! It kept their flowers looking great, and the girls got to take the centerpiece home as a little gift! I got my vases from Goodwill. Yes, thats right! Goodwill! they were $3.00 each. and they were filled with teal stones i got from the Dollar Store! :) I love saving money!

We wanted to incorporate something about the two of us....PJ and I met working at the Ninety Nine Restaurant. He was my manager and I was the Hostess...ShhhH!!!! so, our favors were Brilliant! What better to suite us than Ninety Nine Salt and Pepper Shakers!!?! I spent about 6hours with a few of my 'maids' and we created them to be bride and groom. They looked great- I am so happy with them..from what I heard- a few guests used them that night :) our tables were all names of the places we have been to! :)

Bubbles!!!!! I wanted bubbles but with our budget, i just didn't want to add on that cost. After the ceremony all of a sudden..there were bubbles! my sister, MOH Danielle surprised me with bubbles!

I taught my hubby how to dance, and I taught my dad. Something special to get the night started :)

If you couldn't tell...Im all about making everything and everyone....Special, I hope I can do that for you and your guests! :)

Wish Upon A Wedding

tonight, while browsing i discovered an amazing organization!
http://wishuponawedding.org/
I have decided that I would love to donate my time to a couple getting married who would be interested in dance lessons for their big day! Feel free to check out the web site to learn more about the Wish Upon a Wedding Nonprofit Organization! Such an amazing idea and I want to be apart of it!

Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other serious life-altering circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Often, couples facing such situations do not have the energy, time, money, or resources needed to plan their wedding. Our organization takes care of all the details, offering couples a chance to relax and enjoy a very special day while surrounded by the love of their closest family and friends.

By celebrating the courage & spirit of these couples, we help create lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come. It is our wish to instill a sense of hope and strength in other couples who may be facing similar situations.
Officially launched in January of 2010, Wish Upon a Wedding currently has over a dozen chapters to serve Wish Applicants. We service couples residing in or wishing to get married within 300 miles of any one of our chapter locations. New Chapters open regularly.

‎"I'm a 'rina!"

I started Ballet when I was 3. Yes, we did some toe taps, we sang along to the music, we went on our tippy toes and turned in a circle. ya gotta start somewhere! This picture was taken by Caitlin Domanico of her Prima ballerina Ava! I love this picture. Starting dance at the earliest age possible is best- and who doesn't want to wear a tutu!!! look at the tiny slippers.  <3

Love is in the Air!

I hope everyone had a very Happy Valentines Day!!!

So i hardly every update this blog.....and now I plan on doing so. I have not been teaching too much lately, and basically its because I don't own a studio, that my friends, would make life so much easier! A studio where I can teach what I want and dance my heart out. It would be amazing!! I will make it work, if people are interested in learning to dance- nothing will stop me to spread the art and inspire others...but until i have some students- here I am...on the blog.

Lately I have been thinking alot about planning weddings. I had such an great time planning mine and to actually see my vision come to life on my wedding day was amazing. I love planning parties and well, I love weddings so why not TRY to do what I love.
