Wish Upon a Wedding.

A few months ago I donated 4 lessons at a $200 value to a charity called Wish Upon a WeddingWish Upon a Wedding is a non-profit wish granting organization that provides weddings to couples who are facing a terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstance  no matter what sexual orientation. I found this organization randomly one day while I was just looking at wedding blogs and doing research on starting my own wedding planning business. I quickly fell in love with this organization and when I saw I could donate services to help them raise money I knew that it was something I needed to do.

The fundraiser was an auction. People could go on their website and "bid" on the services in which they would like as a gift or for their own wedding/event they may need it for. There were so many business on there that donated their servies, it was so nice to see! In the dance category there were 3 dance services. Assemblé Weddings (formerly known as Alex Krol Dance) happened to be the only dance business located in the Boston Area. Once the bidding was over, it lasted about 3 months, the winning person happened to be a mother of the Groom, getting a gift for her son and his fiance'. What a  great gift!! With that final bid we were able to help raise $150.00 toward Wish Upon a Wedding!

It just so happend to turn out, I knew the groom, Seve! I use to work with Steve at the Beverly, MA office with Eliot Community Human Services! SMALL WORLD!!!! I was very excited to hear that he was the winner of the lessons and I couldn't wait to get started teaching he and his soon to be wife their dance for their September 8, 2012 wedding.

I started teaching my "couple" in the middle of August in a cute town called Wakefield in the gazebo that is there over looking the lake. It was a great location to teach. Now that the days are shorter, our lessons started at 7:30- there were lights for us! This location just might be my "studio" for now....

More on their wedding soon!! (its today)...Im hoping to get some pictures of their dance!

Side Note: I have decided to change the name of Alex Krol Dance. As I am looking to do more than just dancing and I felt that Alex Krol Dance just didn't "fit". The name I have decided to change it to is Assemblé Wedding Inspirations.Assemblé is a ballet term defined asFrench: “step put together”), in classical ballet, a movement in which a dancer’s feet or legs are brought together in the air and the dancer lands on both feet.  To Assemble is to bring or call together in a group or a whole. I felt that this was perfect! Weddings are a large gathering of people coming together. With this I hope to soon offer professional services other than dancing, such as hair, photography and wedding inspiration.

I Know I have blogged about Pinterest before but there is just so many cute awesome things on there for weddings I can't help myself but blog about them!

There are many brides & grooms out there who are getting married who have lost people who had been close to them, wether its a parent, grandparent, relative or friend here are beautiful ways to have them be apart of your special day:

Include them on the program (if you have one)

A candle with a picture of the loved one:

A scrapbook:

These are just a few ways to make it special on your Special Day. Hope you liked them.

I just hosted a bridal shower where the mother of the bride is no longer with us however, she was all over the room, in our thoughts and there were different things that represented her:
When seeing a Lady Bug, the Bride always thinks of her mom.

Each guest was given a favor card and Pink Ribbon to Wear

Favors In Memory of Donation Cards to Susan G. Komen
“Cookies and candy and chocolates are sweet,
And normally you find a treat at your seat.
But the gift that we have decided to give,
Is one that will help others to live.”
A donation has been made in your honor to the Susan G. Komen Foundation
Walk for the Cure in Memory of the Mother of The Bride, Jean Claire Wesh

Opening things that were her moms.

Mr. & Mrs. Jamie McDermott

Rachael and Jamie
May 12, 2012
New Jersey

Driving 300 miles from Boston to NJ is not an easy drive, but when it comes to teaching dance, I will drive where ever I need to just to share my love of dance to others. Since my wedding in 2010, Weddings just make me happy. I love hearing about the big day, seeing the engagement ring, seeing the smiles on the soon to be mr. and mrs. faces, the laughs they share while learning their first dance steps, the convos they may be having as they are trying not to think about what their feet are doing... Everything! I love it all. I got the pleasure of teaching Rachael and Jamie their first dance, just ONE day before their wedding. We blocked out 4 hours at a local park near where they live in Blackwood, NJ. The weather was beautiful to teach outside and the park was a perfect place! It was so fun teaching these two basic steps of the Foxtrot with some Rumba basic steps as well. We laughed, Danced and Laughed some more. We had a mini audience of little girls sitting inside the gazebo we were in- It was as if they were dreaming of their wedding day, wondering who their prince would be and if they would dance like this some day. It was so cute, I wish I had a picture of that!  Jamie and Rachael learned their dance rather quick! They were naturals! They learned their wedding dance in 1 hour and 1/2 leaving them extra time to get some last  minute things done for their big day.  I am so happy I got to teach them. Rachael and Jamie had perfect weather for their Special Day! Rachael looked BEAUTIFUL and Jamie looked Handsome! Here are a few pictures from their first dance:

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!!

When choosing what readings are appropriate for your wedding ceremony, it can become stressful as there are soooooooo many readings out there! My husband and I had this reading for our wedding. My cousin ,who is a kindergarten teacher had the voice, creativity and the props to read this for us and our guests! I will never forget it- it was absolutely the right choice for our wedding. ( she even changed some words around to make it be our names at the end :) )

Oh the Places You’ll Go - Dr Seuss
A humorous wedding reading by popular author Dr. Seuss! Another variation is to create your own Dr. Seuss-inspired wedding poem.
Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the couple who’ll decide where to go.You’ll look up and down streets. Look ‘em over with care.About some you will say, “We don’t choose to go there.”With your heads full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down, any not-so-good street. And you may not find any you’ll want to go down.In that case, of course, you’ll head straight out of town. It’s opener there in the wide open air,Out there things can happen and frequently doto people as brainy and footsy as you.And when things start to happen, don’t worry. Don’t stew.Just go right along. You’ll start happening too.
OH! THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!
You’ll be on your way up! You’ll be seeing great sights! You’ll join the high fliers who soar to great heights! You won’t lag behind, because you’ll have all the speed. You’ll pass the whole gang, and you’ll soon take the lead.Wherever you fly you’ll be best of the best.Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.Except when you don’t. Because sometimes, you won’t.You’ll get mixed up of course, as you already know. You’ll get mixed up with so many strange birds as you go.So be sure when you step.Step with great care and great tactand remember that Life’s a Great Balancing Act.Just never forget to be dexterous and deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left. And will you succeed?Yes! You will indeed!(98 and ¾ percent guaranteed.)
KIDS, YOU’LL MOVE MOUNTAINS!
So, be your name Buxbaum or Dowrie or Bassor Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to great places!Today is your day!Your mountain is waiting. So … get on your way!"

Pinterest

Well Yes, I along with many other ladies (and men) out there am slightly obsessed with Pinterest. Okay...Im really obsessed. I wish I had it for my wedding- so for those of you who are engaged- take advantage and sign up for Pinterest! You will love it!

I have a lot of "boards" and tons of "Pins". Its very hard for me to choose a favorite. For this Blog, I will stick to the Wedding theme- Here are a few things I found that I absolutely LOVE the idea of. Hope you like them too:

This is a Frame with had written first dance lyrics in it and a picture from the first dance. I want to make this- I love how it is hand written. Such a nice little memory. This could make a nice gift to the bride and groom or a gift for the bride..or groom for their anniversary.

I wish my mom and grandmother were alive to have a photo like this. when you see this photo years from now, it will look much different- but how amazing. :)
I did this above thing with my bridal party- it said "meet the maids and the men" and EVERYONE in my wedding party had a bio. It was a fun surprise and people go to read them while waiting at the bar for their drinks. This was a HUGE hit! I was excited when I saw it on Pinterest! :)
Barn weddings are just BEAUTIFUL. So simple and Elegant- you can't go wrong with a barn wedding.
